Trick or Treat

I am not sure if I will get to go trick or treating with the boys this year. We are still waiting to find out when I will go in to have Joshua Baby. There is a possibility I may go at 38 weeks...in which case Halloween will not involve me. Boo Hoo. But I have made my husband promise to take them AND get good pictures. I started this 8 x 8 book for the Halloween pics. Thinking of doing it this way every year... I have never really been one to do layouts without the pictures. But I am happy with how these came out. Plus I finally got to use the papers from the MME Night Light Collection.

Organizing and Ribbon Jar Guessing Game

I am totally re-organizing my Scrap Cave. It is getting there (especially if you don't count the jar I just broke that got glass all over the floor!!). I am hoping that once I have everything organized...I will regain some of my scrapping mojo. It seems every time I get the desk cleared off, it gets cluttered up again with the next section I am working on. But I figure it has to end some time...right???

So in an attempt to help get this CAVE cleaned up...I have a jar filled with ribbon scraps. Each piece ranges from 1inch or so to 12 inches or so. All you have to do to win all the ribbon in the jar is guess the right number of pieces. First person to guess correctly wins. Only one guess per hour!! Good luck!

Firsts and Candy Winner!!

I have wanted to get a craft sewing machine for a while. FINALLY...after two attempts (both had awful reviews)...I got a Janome Sew Mini. I had no idea we even had a Hancock Fabrics out here in Vegas. Practiced with it for a bit and then decided to take it for a spin on a layout.
I did my FIRST layout for Joshua. I used some paper that I have been saving for just this occasion...Baby Bee Collection by Crate Paper. Love it...it has a slight texture. I also used my stamps I got over at Papertrey Ink...finally!!! These Everyday Button Bits are so fricken cute. And how much easier is it to add stitching to your layout when you don't have to do it by hand??!! Can't wait to use it more!

This layout is also part of a challenge I am hosting over at Cafemom. I challenged everyone to do a Strip "tease". All of the paper used (besides the foundation piece and any mats) had to be in strips. I feel very productive!!

BTW...the Candy winner is ANGIE!! So congrats to you! I will get it in the mail to you as soon as I can. Thanks for all the comments ladies!!

Mini LO and Paper Daisy

I actually snuck off to my scrap cave for a few last night. AND I actually got a couple of things done!

I am hosting a Mini Dare Challenge in my scrap group. The challenge is to create a layout that is no bigger than 5 x 5. I got one done. Found a little picture of my husband as a baby, what a chunk!! And Oh My Goodness how Joey looks like him!! I used papers and embellishments from Fancy Pants The Daily Grind. Love this line. It measures 4.5 x 4.5. It is hard to see in the photo but I also used my Scor-pal to create lines in the paisley and then sanded them..wanted to make the paper a bit more masculine.

And then I am also hosting a Paper Daisy Swap. These are so cute. I found them on the Kaiser Craft website. A great way to use up scraps. And they are quick and easy!! I used the scraps I had leftover from making my mini LO.

Just purchased...

So I had to have this set:
It is the cutest stamp set I have ever seen. You fill in the circle parts with...wait for it...BUTTONS!! Oh my gosh...I can't wait to get this. They sell it over at Papertrey Ink...which by the way is an AWESOME site!! And for TONS and TONS of inspiration you have to check out the owner, Nicole's, blog....{capture the moment}.
I would kill for 10% of the creativity coming from her and her design team. Truly amazing cards are being created by those gals!!
Anyway...just wanted to share. Go check out these sites...you won't be sorry!!

Scrap CAVE...a work in progress & a b-day card

So, all of my stuff is finally moved...just need to organize it a bit better. It is actually rather cozy in there.

Can't wait to lock myself in the closet!!!

I managed to actually make a card last week. It felt so good to make something. Hopefully I will get a chance to do more this weekend. I need to start thinking about birth announcements. I had Jake's done before he was born...all I had to do was add a picture. Could I possible have that happen again for this child???

Anyway..here is the birthday card I made. Scraplifted it from a card I saw online....I used paper for the candles instead of ribbon.

Stationary Station

I was blog hoppin' last night and came across this really cute project. Had to try it. It was actually pretty quick to make. I plan on doing another one with a collection of papers I have more of so that I can make all the matching cards and what not.

Here is my practice one:

This cute little box holds standard size cards in the big section, 3 x 3 cards in the smaller section and tags in the section next to that.
There is also a pocket for stamps, a pen holder and a little blank book for addresses.

You can find the tutorial for this HERE.

Organized...(for the time being)

I spent the better part of the weekend organizing, cleaning and weeding through my scrap room. I guess I should have taken a before picture. DUH! Anyway...I am itching to scrap now. Anyone want to come babysit for me so I can??? PLEASE???

I had all my ribbon wrapped around clothespins and stored in jars. I had found the idea on someones blog. In theory it is a great idea. In reality...a bit of a PITA. So I have opted to hang my ribbon from one of my peg boards. I still have one more jar to finish...it must have most of my green ribbon (that seems to be what is missing from my wall). I also still need to go through all my chipboard. It is on top of that tall shelf in that little drawer thingy. I got lazy and they have become a jumbled mess. I also had to change my clear stamp storage. I had made a box to hold all my CD cases that store my clear stamps. But I had too many. So I got this cheap CD holder at IKEA. It is awaiting some paint or something.

So in the process of cleaning...I have unearthed several forgotten treasures. Some of which (well actually most of which) I am selling. If you are in the market for some new scrap supplies please check out my other blog to see what I am offering. Plus if you sign up to follow that blog you will be entered in a Monthly Drawing. We just had our first one the other day. Next one is April 1st (or is it!! LOL).

Also...I wanted to remind all of you that MemoryWorks has a bunch of new product form CHA 09 posted!! I WANT IT ALL!! Be sure to check that out...Some of it is selling fast. There are also a bunch of markdown items as well. I have a new promo going on for March..which you can view on my website's homepage.

Thanks for stopping by...have a great day!!

Mini Notebook Tutorial

I was participating in a Secret Item Challenge in a scrap group I belong to and had to use some fiber and a clip. I made a notebook. This is a tutorial on how to make one (this is not the one from the challenge).

First you will need some solid cardstock. I used white...but any light color would work (you want to be able to write in your little notebook!!).

Cut 10-12 sheets so they are 6 x 4.5 each. Then fold them all in half.

Next pick a piece of patterned cardstock. I used one that was double sided. Cut this piece to 6.5 x 4.5. You'll need to score it at 3 inches and 3.5 inches. This creates the spine of your notebook.

Put adhesive on the inside of your cover just on the 1/2 inch spine.

Then stack all your inner pages and place on the right side of the inside of the cover. Close the book...and press the adhesive so that the pages stick to it. Using coordinating string, fiber or skinny ribbon...you will bind the pages to the spine. Leave extra length at the top and go between the folds of each page...coming down to the bottom and around the back. Once you have done this to each page tie the two ends together at the top of your book. Embellish as you wish. I added a long piece of cardstock covered chipboard to use as a bookmark.

Have fun with this...and make sure to link me up if you make one. Who knows there may be a prize!!

If you don't have a blog...you can upload our pic to flickr or photobucket. Then just copy and paste that URL to Mr. Linky!

you are a Hoot

So I got this great kit from MemoryWorks**. It is somewhat Halloween themed, but I didn't have any Halloween pics from this year. So I made this little album. It is about 90% from the kit materials....the rest is from my stash. I am so pleased with it. Now I just need some pictures to put in it. I am thinking black and white.

I outlined the cute little owl with marker to look like stitching so he would stand out a little more and hand stitched the edge of the album (not so good on a sewing machine...and don't have one anyway!! LOL)

The black photo mats pull out to reveal space for an additional photo or journaling.

Bothe the photo mat and the journal tag pull out. Additional photos can be kept behind it all in the button covered pockets.

I have had this chipboard LAUGH word forever. It was a little to big so I cut it to fit across the two pages.

The striped paper on the polka dot photo mat can also be used to hold a piece of memorabilia.

The right side of page has a little photo album adhered to the page. It will hold six additional pictures or journaling.

Hoot....Hoot...
